Original Grant Overview
Goal
To provide enough music stands for all our students during concerts.
What will be done with my students
Currently we have about 75 students in Beginning Band, 55 in Advanced Band, and 40 in Jazz Band. During concerts this requires about 60 stands even with students sharing. At present our Band only has about 40 working stands and some of those don't stay up when heavier binders and placed on them. Having proper equipment ensures that kids have a great Band experience and can focus on music making. We are seeking funds to purchase additional stands for our growing program and an additional stand cart to keep everything organized. As part of our standards students are learning to care for and maintain equipment in the proper way through organizational procedures. When students have nice working things learning happens more naturally because we aren't having to stop to swap out inferior equipment or come up with ways to make broken stands work.

Benefits to my students
Student need a place to put their music and feel confident in their equipment. Replacing and adding stands to our inventory will help our growing Band for years to come affecting thousands of students over the next 10 plus years.
It costs thousands of dollars each year to run the Band and Choir program at NSBMS. Students fundraiser all year long to help cover our operating costs from supplies like paper to transportation and repairs. We are continuously performing in and around NSB for our community every year.
