Thank you so much for fulfilling this grant request! I was able to purchase flexible seating (with a rack for storage) and a mobile teacher easel so students could set up a learning environment in a variety of locations including our outdoor classroom area.

My students loved to use the surf seats for a variety of purposes! They were used as a desk for their laptops to sit on, a table to arrange their book or math manipulatives in a small group setting, and a place to lean their elbows when they were enjoying a good book. I also noticed that using the surf seat encouraged good posture. During the open house event, I had a lot of students showing them off to their parents and asking for one at home.

The easel made it possible for me to create a focal point of reference when utilizing our outdoor classroom area. It was easy to wheel it outside and have it to write notes and keep my lesson on track when venturing outside for a change of pace when the weather permitted.

The whiteboards and erasers (socks) were used daily with all students when doing center rotations with the teacher. The primary lines on it allowed me to encourage good handwriting and the magnetic feature made it easy to use magnetic pieces and puzzles that students were originally just doing on their desks.

Thank you again for your generosity and for fulfilling this grant! It assisted in the learning of my 22 students and improved the teaching quality of 1 teacher.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

I want to purchase flexible seating (with a rack for storage) and a mobile teacher easel so students can set up a learning environment in a variety of locations.

What will be done with my students

I plan to permanently integrate the use of these seats and the teaching easel. Seats can be arranged by students for them to do daily assignments independently, in pairs, or in small groups. The seats provide a workspace for students to use for reading, writing, making observations, and using hands-on learning materials. Students will be able to learn here, learn there, learn anywhere!
This grant also requests funding for double-sided magnetic write and wipe boards and erasers (socks) to use while working.

Benefits to my students

The flexible seating will foster independence and responsibility in students.
They will be able to carry and set up their seating to the desired location and will be responsible for returning it to the storage rack when they are finished with it.
Students impacted will be 20 students/year.

Budget Narrative

Items requested to purchase are portable Surf desks and rack and black ankle socks (to use as erasers for white boards) from Amazon totaling $334.89 (including tax).

Also, a double-sided mobile teacher’s easel and double-sided magnetic write and wipe boards for students from Lakeshore totaling $657.35 (including tax, shipping, and handling).

The total project cost is $991.24.
