Goal

By the end of the school year, my goal is to have all my students performing at or above grade level. Currently, I have 22% of students performing below grade level. By having access to additional technology, I will have added resources to help me reach my goal and a new enrichment experience for my students.

What will be done with my students

During small group time my students will have access to learning apps on iPads. They will also use these apps to help them complete projects in all subjects. Students will also be able to use their tablets during whole group instruction to participate in fun and engaging activities. The additional use of iPads in my classroom will have a positive impact on all my students.

Benefits to my students

With a lack of resources in my classroom, my students are limited in their abilities to complete assignments during small group time. Our curriculum is ever changing and becoming more interactive through technology. With iPads, my students can log in to Big Ideas Math and MyPath to take quizzes and assessments in math and reading.

Our district uses MyPath, which is a system that reteaches and enriches standards-based learning. This program tests them in the beginning to see what level they are on, and then will reteach them concepts they may have missed during the pre-assessment. This program unlike others, will not let them progress to the next level until they have mastered the current one.

They will also use their iPads during whole group lessons to participate in quizzes and games to keep learning fun and engaging. They will use our new math curriculum’s website and games to participate in this to review skills we have learned in class.

Students will also be able to strengthen their reading and reading comprehension by using a program called Reading A-Z. I have several students who are struggling with reading, and by combining skills learned in class and the use of this app, their comprehension will only strengthen.

I am always trying to find fun and engaging activities to use in my classroom to keep my students interested while actively learning. The extra access to technology will help me keep learning fun and engaging while also utilizing technology at the same time. With the grant, I will be able to add two or three iPads to my classroom depending on the final cost. The additional iPads will have a positive effect not only on all my current students, but also my future students in the years to come. To evaluate the effectiveness, I will reference my students test scores in the classroom and will also review their Star scores.

I am always trying to find fun and engaging activities to use in my classroom to keep my students interested while actively learning. The extra access to technology will help me keep learning fun and engaging while also utilizing technology at the same time.

Budget Narrative

With grant funds, I can get two iPads at their current estimated cost. If I am able to get two iPads, I will need to get protective cases for the iPads that cost approximately $12 a piece. In total, my project cost will be approximately $740.
