Goal

The 3D Printers are being used in conjunction Autodesk Inventor Software to give students the opportunity to interact with additive technology in the classroom. These engineering career skills are invaluable to each student in today's job marketplace.

What will be done with my students

Students are using Autodesk Inventor 2022 software to create 3D models in the classroom as directed by the teacher. The Solid Professor computer aided design (CAD) software training program allows each student to develop their CAD skills as an integral part of the classroom instruction. Both software programs are able to be used outside the classroom which enables the student to progress at their own pace. In addition to the classroom instruction, students have used this equipment in the Robotics Club competitions. The Robotics Club has mentors that also demonstrate how the use of 3D additive technologies are currently used in industry and engineering careers.

Benefits to my students

These skills culminate with the student achieving engineering knowledge using CAD software to gain industry certifications. The engineering design process is a series of steps that engineers follow to come up with a solution to a problem. Many times, the solution involves designing a product that meets certain criteria and/or accomplishes a certain task. This process is different from the Steps of the Scientific Method. Engineering projects involve designing, building, and testing. Students have been versed in the process and now can take this knowledge with them in their many walks of life.
