Welcome to my new kindergarten classroom. My goal is to create a cooperative classroom community using the teaching easel to engage my students in reading lessons, phonics, powerful math discussions, lessons using science big books, and more!

Throughout the day we sit on the carpet and as students gather around the Reading/Writing Teaching Easel, it will become a valuable tool for student learning.

I am a new kindergarten teacher at Avalon Elementary, a title 1 school with disadvantaged students. The children come to school eager to learn! I want to mold students to be lifelong learners!

Goal

Welcome to my new kindergarten classroom. My goal is to create a cooperative classroom community using the teaching easel to engage my students in reading lessons, phonics, powerful math discussions, lessons using science big books, and more!

What will be done with my students

Here is a sneak peek into a corner of possibilities for our kindergarten Teaching Easel:

-It is sized perfectly for student’s hands-on interactive participation.

-We can use the white board lined or unlined surface for recording information, creating charts, phonics work and the sky is the limit.

-The big book ledge will hold our books open so we can point out important vocabulary words and also find words that fit our spelling pattern of the week.

-It has two accessory hooks to hold writing charts for interactive writing.

-It is magnetic to use letters to make new words as we are reading.

-The easel is on castors so it can be easily moved around the classroom.

-It will be utilized for small group centers.

-The bonus is the 4 sliding open tubs and 2 tiny tubs to help us grab things quickly. It will be handy for holding read aloud books, teaching materials, student supplies, and subject matter tools.
