Goal

These two different literacy kits will help my students build phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension in a fun way during our classroom workstations and RTI/Enrichment Blocks.  

What will be done with my students

We are requesting two different Literacy Learning Kits online from Lakeshore Learning Materials. These kits are all designed to help first grade leveled students build literacy skills. If given this grant the six first grade teachers would use these resources during our daily RTI block for building basic skills in reading.

With the Listen & Learn Phonemic Awareness Activity Program, students will pop in a CD and then follow the step-by-step lessons to build phonemic awareness in an involving & interactive way! This program has enough materials for up to 8 children to participate at once.

The reading comprehension games kit will help students develop comprehension skills. Students hunt for treasure as they read for key details, race to finish their paper routes as they explore informational texts, and have fun learning. The kit comes with six different games that can be played by 2-4 players. This is perfect for student work stations.
 

Benefits to my students

These fun interactive kits will benefit our students by helping them build their phonemic development, fluency and comprehension as well as other fundamental literacy skills.  

Budget Narrative

All of these interactive games and centers come from Lakeshore Learning Materials Company. I will order the materials online and they will be shipped directly to the school. This company's website states that they will pay for shipping for anything over $79.00.
