Goal

Our goal is to help fragile learning disabled readers and writers to expand their vocabulary in order to improve reading comprehension and writing fluency to be successful in 5th grade and beyond.

What will be done with my students

Fragile learners need visuals to help cement knowledge. Ipad minis will give the students images of the vocabulary looked up. It will give them a "memory hook" to permanently enter the word in their brain. It will also pronounce the word and read the meaning for below grade level readers. It greatly reduces the amount of class time needed to retrieve definitions and helps us move on to using the word.

Benefits to my students

Engagement! Engagement! Engagement! Because it is technology, the students will have fun looking up words. It guarantees student success in pronouncing the word. Images bring a memory hook for each word to the students. Because each child will feel successful, they will want to continue and define more vocabulary.
