Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 150

All of our 5th graders were able to use these Circuit Scribe Pens. They each had a lesson during their unit on circuits in science where they were able to draw their own circuits using these conductive ink pens. You can use the ink instead of wires to turn on the included LED lights. They also investigated different types of switches and were able to trace the path that the electricity takes. This allowed learning about circuits in a very engaging way. Students loved using these circuit scribe pens and learned a lot of about how circuits work. This solidified their learning and allowed them to take it to the next level!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

I will help enhance our instruction of electricity and circuits in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade by using these hands on conductive ink pens and modules for students to make their own circuits.

What will be done with my students

Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade all have science benchmarks having to do with energy, electricity and circuits. The circuit scribe is a pen that has conductive ink so students can draw circuits right on paper and connect batteries, lights and other modules to explore and create real circuits right in their notebooks. I am requesting one classroom set that can be passed around the grade level so that all students can benefit from using it. We can also incorporate them into science projects and extensions.

Benefits to my students

Students will be able to learn by creating their own circuits and explore by testing out different ways of making circuits. This will allow them to get a better understanding of how electricity and circuits work because they can build them themselves instead of just reading about them!

Budget Narrative

1 circuit scribe basic classroom kit includes 10 basic kits so that it can be used in a classroom of 10-20 students.

Items

# Item Cost
