Goal

Hot Dots are a new, motivational and successful learning system. These talking pens are an engaging game-style learning that allows students to review and practice common core skills learned in the classroom. My goal is to get a set that can be shared among the six first grade classes for small group or workstations as well as some of the cards designed for First Grade.  

What will be done with my students

Students will use the Hot Dot Pens in workstations as an interactive, self-checking program to help review of concepts learned in class. With this program students can learn at their own pace and can have cards that are at their own level. This is great for differentiated education. The program has cards that reinforce important skills in every area from Language Arts and Math facts to Reading Comprehension and Phonics, and even science.  

Benefits to my students

This program will benefit my students by giving them immediate, friendly feedback on each answer, with the opportunity to reconsider his or her response and try again and again until they answer correctly. It will reinforce key standards and help them practice while having fun.  

Budget Narrative

I selected two sets of six Hot Pens plus the Phonics Program Kit includes six more Hot Pens so there will be enough Interactive Hot Pens for my entire class to have one to use at the same time. The other materials I selected are cards that go along with the Hot Pens to help students practice key instructional, grade level material that align with the standards taught in class. I plan to buy all of this from Classroom Plus, my local Classroom Store. There are many more card sets that work with these Hot Pens. I hope to add on to this program every year.
