Goal

For more of our students to have access to the internet and applications on iPads to research, explore, and discover STEM concepts and ideas while on field trips and mobile in the school. 

What will be done with my students

Our students will have access during STEM learning activities within the other academic areas such as reading, writing, math, & science to make connections, research, explore, and discover concepts connected to STEM lessons. Such lessons include the conservation of the Florida Panther and creating a new educational toy for children. Our students are also making connections to health and their relationship with other living things in their community, school, and world. This year our students are also participating in the science fair. Each one will have to be able to conduct research and experiments and with the use of the iPads, our students will have more options with learning instead of falling behind. They will be able to video or photograph their experiments and results. iPads also give our students a way to communicate with other young scientists or engineers around Florida and in other states. I have made arrangements with other teachers that I have taught with in Ohio to Skype using the iPads so students can communicate with each other STEM related projects. 

Benefits to my students

The students get a chance to do more then play games or watch videos on iPads. Instead they use the iPads to question, hypothesize, research, experiment, and attain results to be scientists or engineers or any STEM related career. Students will make more connections and learn to communicate. Students will think deeper and attain better STEM concepts and become excited about their education.  

Budget Narrative

Three iPad Air 2 16GB ($1,197) work best for students with the Wifi and ease of handle. The screens are large enough for students to read from and take photographs or video. The ease of the iPads gives the students options to be more creative with their STEM projects and with research. The Otterbox cases ($270) will help protect the iPads when in transit or being passed around for students to use without the fear of damage. Will be picking up all items at Best Buy to save on shipping.
