My goal is to provide an opportunity for several of my students, who suffer from dysgraphia (which is learning disability that prevents students from writing coherently), to relay their written thoughts through the use of speech recognition software.

My goal is to provide an opportunity for several of my students, who suffer from dysgraphia (which is learning disability that prevents students from writing coherently), to relay their written thoughts through the use of speech recognition software.
A designated computer will be set up in my homeroom class, where students can come (when needed) to speak into a microphone and have the voice recognition software type their words for them. Student will still have to edit their work for grammatical errors, but the software will help the students to get their thoughts on paper in a quick and legible manner. This designated computer will be available throughout the day for other students who may benefit from it as well.
I am hopeful this software program will give my students, who suffer from Dysgraphia, some relief when faced with lengthy grade level writing assignments. Allowing such students to speak and not worry about the writing will allow them to produce quality writing samples without becoming frustrated. I am hopeful this software program will help my students to keep up with their peers who are at the same age/grade level.
I found the this software at Best Buy for $99.00.
The nuance microphone / headset, is essential for clear voice recognition.
