Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 820

This grant funding came late in the school year, and was a welcomed addition to our "Make and Take" tables in our Media Center. Every day a different class comes into our media center to check out library books and to use the 20 minutes to explore some hand-on centers. The Magnetic building blocks were a big hit! They encouraged some good-hearted compeition between the upper grades to create the tallest structure.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of this activity is to encourage all students in the school, while visiting the media center, to explore a connecting system which will allow them to build bridges, skyscrapers, and 3-D structures.

What will be done with my students

At the activity tables, in the school media center, students will use colorful translucent plastics, unique geometric shapes and extender rods, which will allow students to build open-ended constructions .

Benefits to my students

Creative thinking, improving spacial awareness and activities that will tie into the Science STEM curriculum in all grades.
