Goal

The goal of this grant is to teach students an engaging science lesson on the life cycle of a butterfly.

What will be done with my students

Students will observe the caterpillars and watch them grow over time. Students will get to observe them form a chrysalis to a butterfly. They will observe the butterflies eat and eventually release them in the garden. The students will learn about the stages of a butterfly and record them in their science notebooks. Also, students will learn about other animals and life cycles and compare them to the butterfly that they observed.

Benefits to my students

This allows the students to have a hands-on look at the life cycle of the butterfly. Each kindergarten classroom will get 1 cup of 5 caterpillars to observe each day. This will allow students to develop their skills of observation and data collection.

Budget Narrative

Most teachers already have a butterfly pavilion from last year. Ordering one more for a new teacher.
