Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 40

I was so pleased with the students that used the books from Champions for Learning this year.  Thirteen students were enrolled in an after school program funded by the Naples Music Club.  About 30 students were able to come to my room before school to practice.

I put the books in plastic bags and had the students "check out" the books when they took them home to practice on a keyboard or perhaps a piano.

These extra books to check out made a huge difference.  The extra practice time at home gave the students such a great opportunity to improve, that three of them won free piano lessons for a year from the Naples Music Club!  The extra practice that gave them the edge to win came from Champions for Learning!

I'm going to have to order harder books for next year!

Thank you!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

I would like the students that are learning how to play the keyboard in my room to be able to take the books home to practice.

What will be done with my students

I have groups of students that come to work on playing the keyboard before school, after school and during school time. (The instruments and books have been provided by the Naples Music Club and Champions for Learning!!!) THANK YOU!
Some students have a keyboard or piano at home and have asked time after time to borrow the books. I would like to put the books in a plastic bag and have the students check out the books for a week at a time. This would last the whole school year.

Benefits to my students

When students learn a new skill they need to practice. My students only have access to the keyboards once or twice a week. Being able to practice when they get home is a huge advantage for the students.
If the students can practice what they just learned, they can improve every time I see them instead of just re-learning. I can imagine how much faster they will learn and retain their skills and knowledge!

Budget Narrative

The first book is what they use in my class. The other two books are at a slightly higher level.
