Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 540

All of my students were able to use the clipboards this year!  Most of the students were literally writing musical notes on their paper attached to the clipboard.

My older students were busy writing parts of the staff, different kinds of notes, adult voice ranges, composer names, biographies of composers and describing elements of music.

The younger students could practice drawing notes and icons that represented music including quarter notes, rests, names of instruments and vocabulary words when we studied the opera, "Hansel and Gretel."

In a practical sense, the children were more comfortable writing in the music room.  Since we have no desks, the students used the clipboards on which to attach their paper so it wouldn't slide around on a book like last year.  So many of the students have dexterity challenges and really benefitted from the boards.

On a side note, the students loved the colors of the clipboards because they were transparent blue, yellow, red and clear.  The kids would look through them and see what "disappeared" in the room!"

Writing music notes!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

I would love to have my students be able to use a clipboard to write musical notes, vocabulary and written responses to the music.

What will be done with my students

When I need the students to give me a written response, I could have them pick up a paper, clipboard and pencil. In the past I have had the children use the back of a book to put under their paper. This gets a little awkward for many students. My books usually don't fit the size of paper.

I am blessed with a beautiful music room with space for chairs, dancing and instruments. When we do written work, their are no desks.

Benefits to my students

The clipboard would hold the paper securely so the students could concentrate on their work. Students with physical challenges should find it easier to get their work done.

Budget Narrative

As a music teacher, I sometimes teach more than one class at time, with my class sizes over 30.
