My students love to be hands-on, and my goal is to have the students supported with math educational games so I can support my students through differentiating instruction. The educational math games will motivate my students during centers. The educational math games line right up with our standards for 1st grade.

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 16

In our classroom we are beyond grateful to have the manipulatives and resources to enhance our learning in Math. The 16 students in my classroom were able to explore the math center activities during math center rotations where they used hands on learning tools to enhance and master their math skills. My students loved using the pop and add game to learn to count two digit numbers together up to the number 30. There were manipulatives that went along with the pop and add game that helped my struggling learners to add using hands on resources to help them count. Being able to have resources with manipulatives are a powerful tool for first graders. Several of the math puzzles and games allowed the students to have fun with math. They were able to have fun as well as learn which is key to being successful. My students were able to use the money and time puzzle games to extend their learning to a second grade level expectation. We again are beyond grateful to have the opportunity to use the resources all year long with being able to master specific math standards through the resources. The learning games, puzzle, and resources are going to be able to help my students in the future years as well. I truly appreciate the donation and being able to be part of such a wonderful grant opportunity.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My students love to be hands-on, and my goal is to have the students supported with math educational games so I can support my students through differentiating instruction. The educational math games will motivate my students during centers. The educational math games line right up with our standards for 1st grade.

What will be done with my students

The materials will help my students with the skills they have already worked on this year and elaborate on their math skills. Some of them need a little extra motivation and support so I picked a Pop and Add to 20 game to help give my students the chance to practice and review their math skills. The games will be used during math centers and will give my students the chance to practice the new first grade math skills that they are having difficulties with.

Benefits to my students

My first graders will benefit from these games because they will be able to practice the content not only during instruction, but during center station activities in Math. Not only will my students learn the content, but they will also learn cooperation, respect for others, sharing, and taking turns.

Budget Narrative

Only a 1 time fee for the math center games that will benefit 18 students this year and can be used for all the following years as well. No additional costs for curriculum or products.
