The Immokalee Band Program has been spending the last few years building its low brass "Tuba" section. This year we had the pleasure of marching 7 sousaphones in the marching band and we anticipate 12 members on the line next year. The current cases are 15 years old and are no longer in a condition to provide protection during storage and travel. Our goal is to begin replacing these cases to insure our instruments will remain in good condition for current and future students.

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 11

The students in the band program here at Immokalee HIgh School are extremely dedicated. They take alot of pride in their performance both in prepared music, uniform, instrument, and discipline. The majority of the instruments and cases which provide protection are very worn. This grant has allowed the program to replace 8 of the Sousaphone cases. The instruments themselves start at 8,000 each, so the impact it will have on the program for future generations of Marching Indians is high. The current cases were over ten years old, and falling apart, to the point of the instruments being damaged during travel. These cases that were purchased will give the needed protection to these instruments. The students in the Sousaphone section are forever greatful to Champions for Learning, Suncoast Schools Credit Union, and the Lucie Jenny MacCarthy Music Fund for their time and suppoort to the student of Immokalee High School music Program.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The Immokalee Band Program has been spending the last few years building its low brass "Tuba" section. This year we had the pleasure of marching 7 sousaphones in the marching band and we anticipate 12 members on the line next year. The current cases are 15 years old and are no longer in a condition to provide protection during storage and travel. Our goal is to begin replacing these cases to insure our instruments will remain in good condition for current and future students.

What will be done with my students

Students in the tuba section will be able to transport their instruments safely and more efficiently with new cases. This will also allow for better protection of the instruments for future students who will be joining the band in the Tuba section.

Benefits to my students

With football games, competitions, parades, public concerts, and other various music events, these instruments spend a large amount of time traveling. Instruments will be able to transport safely and more efficiently with new cases. This will also allow for better protection of the instruments for future students who will be joining the band in the Tuba section.

Budget Narrative

It is our goal to purchase new cases for the 8 of the 9 sousaphones.
Each case is priced at $420.00.
The total cost needed to fund this project is 3,360.00
