Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 100

The goal of “Privacy Please!” was to allow students a private workspace in our busy classrooms. When we utilized these privacy shields, students were able to keep their assignments and ideas private. They also were able to remove the many distractions that occur within a classroom during the day. Students walked over to the side of the room quietly, picked up a shield and put it in place by themselves, allowing them to focus on their assignments. Because of these shields, students were able to complete their assignments in a timely manner and with more accuracy. They learned to become self-advocates for their own needs throughout the day. The biggest benefit was that students became more responsible for their learning, which is a skill all children need to possess in order to succeed in life. These shields will be used for many years to come, so they will help hundreds of children. We’d like to thank our generous donor, Jay Mulholland for funding this grant and allowing the students from Calusa Park Elementary to be the best they can be!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of this grant is to reduce distractions and provide privacy for students throughout the school.  

 

What will be done with my students

Students will utilize privacy shields throughout the year. These privacy shields will keep their work and their ideas private, while removing distractions that might occur in the classroom. Students may request a shield in order to help them focus on a particular task. They will also be utilized when an assessment is being administered. 

 

Benefits to my students

In order for students to do their very best work, many students in classrooms need to reduce and eliminate distractions during the day. By using a “privacy shield” students are not sidetracked by others or their behaviors. These shields are easily placed on the student’s desk allowing them to take action to become the best that they can be. With the availability of “privacy shields,” students actually learn to be self-advocates for their own needs to learn efficiently. The biggest benefit will be that students will become more responsible for their learning, which is a skill all children need in order to succeed in life.

These 24 privacy shields will be used throughout Calusa Park Elementary for many years. Thank you for considering my grant and supporting our school.
