Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 1

Thank you so much for investing in the BrainPop program for our school!  With the grant, we were able to purchase a Brainpop subscription for our entire faculty and student group!

Our entire school was able to utilize the program.  Teachers used Brainpop to engage students in new lesson topics, to review topics, and to build projects, such as movies.  Students could create their own BrainPop stories using key vocabulary terms and charaters from Brainpop to demonstrate what they have learned about various concepts.

The students really enjoyed viewing the Brainpop videos and using the other features because they are fun and intersting to the students.

Because we had access to this program, we know our students have mastered standards more readily and can remember the important information they have learned because they were able to laugh and enjoy learning it.

Thank you for our grant opportunity!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

With this subscription, Immokalee Middle School teachers and students will have access to thousands of videos on Science, Social Studies, English, Math, Arts & Music, Health, & Engineering and Technology. These videos can be used in the classroom or viewed at home to increase student comprehension on benchmark standards.

What will be done with my students

Brainpop videos are funny and entertaining, but most of all, accurate and engaging snippets of video that teach students on various topics.

Incorporating videos into lessons, gets students engaged in the topic, explains information thoroughly, and often addresses misconceptions. The videos are short, to the point, and come with a mini quiz at the end. Together with hands-on learning experiences and the use of technology, Brainpop videos will be a dynamic addition to our teacher tools.

Teachers can either directly video the videos with their class, or students can view videos at home.

Benefits to my students

Research has shown that students using Brainpop have excelled 1-2 grade levels higher than their peers on standardized tests.

“Students in classes using BrainPOP made significant improvements compared to students in classes not using BrainPOP.” Approximately 1,100 students in 46 classrooms in Palm Beach County, Florida and New York City participated in a controlled study of BrainPOP efficacy examining Vocabulary, Language, Reading Comprehension, and Science. ~SEG Research
