Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 80

This grant helped 4th and 5th graders who were performing in the bottom 25% of their grade level in math. Student performance was determined by the state assessment they took last year. The white boards and markers you provided for these students were used for fun review games, partner work, and independent work time. The students loved the opportunity to show what they knew using markers and white boards instead of paper and pencils. Students have shown growth throughout the year and we hope to see it on this years state assessment as well. Thank you for supporting students at Golden Terrace!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal is to help our lowest performers in math reach proficiency as defined by our state standards.

What will be done with my students

We will run a 4th and 5th grade math lab for our lowest performing math students. Selected students will attend their grade level lab for a half hour, three days a week. They will receive support from the math coach on foundational skills needed to be successful in their current grade level. Technology, note-booking and vocabulary will be embedded throughout sessions.

Benefits to my students

There are 40 fifth graders and 40 fourth graders who have been defined as being lowest performing among their peers. These students will have additional math time each day to work on foundational skills they were taught in prior grade levels but have not yet mastered. This will allow students to close the achievement gap and become successful and confident in math.

Budget Narrative

Notebooks and pencils will be used for interactive note-booking which will focus on vocabulary and exemplar problems. Dry-erase boards and markers will be used as students practice problems in pairs and for quick formative assessments so we can track student progress.
