The goal is to get students excited about STEM. Not just any students, but the students at my Title I school, are from non- English speaking homes and are from a low economic home. Allowing them the opportunity to learn to code while being engaged is my goal. To have them "play" so they are engaged, but apply necessary skills. With the Lego WeDo, the students will learn cover science, math and engineering, while building with Lego's. What better way to prepare them for their future?

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 500

The students of Eden Park love Legos, robotics, and coding.  So I had to request something that included all of that in one.  The Lego WeDo allows them to build various creations, and then code them.  They love it and it is amazing to see their eyes light up when it really works! The app that works with the Lego WeDo is very user friendly, it will give them informaiton about their creation, then walk them step by step to build it and then again step by step to code.   A great way to introduce students of any age into coding and robotics.

What will be done with my students

This set is based upon the latest science standards and was created to enhance students' curiosity and science skills. The set is delivered in a storage bin along with sorting trays, labels, a Smarthub, a Medium Motor, Motion Sensor, a Tilt Sensor, and enough building elements for two students.

The accompanying desktop and tablet supported software provides an easy-to-use programming environment and includes the WeDo 2.0 Curriculum Pack, which covers life, physical, earth, and space sciences, as well as engineering. The accompanying eLearning program helps teachers to become confident users of the WeDo 2.0 Core Set.
