Goal

Students will be motivated to increase their activity level by using a pedometer to track their success.

What will be done with my students

For the past 3 years, I have organized and managed a before school "running club" for students in K through 5th grades. Typically I have 200 students that participate.
I would like to have wrist pedometers for each of the participants. Students will use a pedometer on a daily basis to track their steps. Each student will receive a paper log so that they can keep track of their steps. They will then use their math skills to convert their steps into miles. The first week will be used as a base line. Every 6 week period, recognition will be given to all students that have improved by increasing their number of steps.

Benefits to my students

1. Improvement of aerobic capacity.
2. Create a sense of greater aspirations
3. Learn self-discipline
4. Increase the virtue of perseverance

Budget Narrative

The funds will be used to purchase wrist pedometers for the student that participates in the program.
