Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 420

We were able to bring the author Lisa Wroble to the school for a day long presnetation to Kindergarten classes through 2nd grade. All the students got a thinking journal and a great lesson on how authors get ideas and research and write. She was amazing and students walked away with great ideas on how to imprve their writing. I heard many children comment on how excited they were and how amazing her books were.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To bring local publshed author and writing teacher Lisa Wroble to the school to conduct a day of grade level writing presentations and writers workshops for the students grades k-5 at Veterans Memorial Elementary. Lisa loves to connect technology (ipads), the arts creative thinking and writing.

What will be done with my students

Lisa Wroble has published over twenty-seven books. She works for Edison College and Collier Continuing Education teaching writer's workshop classes and is excellent in engaging young learners to become excited about writing and publishing their own works. She will present to each grade highlighting her books as well as strategies and techniques to improve writing using technology through our BYOD program and applying the new Florida education standards. She will also conduct small workshops with specific groups of students to work closely on their own pieces.

Benefits to my students

All the students at the school will be engaged in an exciting presentation. Lisa says she finds joy in seeing students take ownership of their writing and communications skills. She feels students that work with her realize they can use their imagination to fuel their writing! These presentations will help students unlock their writing potential and increase motivation to write as well as score well on writing assessments.More information on the benefits of Lisa's presentations can be found at www.lisawroble.com
