Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 810

Our students were fascinated with our Nanoleaf!  The colors drew them to it from the minute they walked in the media center doors.  It was our featured Art Makerspace.  I also put out a variety of art materials for them to use in creating their personal art.  I was able to purchase some of the art supplies with grant money as well.  The lights would change periodically and participants were asked to create a picture that looked like one of the scenes they saw.  We had preschoolers, who were visiting with parents, stop and enjoy it.  Kindergarten to fifth grades found it very engaging.  It was such a unique opportunity for our students to see the lights change and then create them with their own art work.

I am also sharing it with our art and music teachers so that students can see and use it in classrooms, beyond the library.  By the end of the year, students will have accessed this material multiple times and had a chane to enjoy and utilize it. What a wonderful opportunity to blend art, music, technology and makerspaces!

Thank you for supporting our students and staff with this grant.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Children explore the beauty of music and color through the new technology of Nanoleaf.

What will be done with my students

Children will arrange Nanoleaf pieces in a variety of designs and then control them with an iPad. There are over 16.7 million colors, so the options are endless. Nanoleaf Rhythm module transforms music into color and light in real time. This experience provides a great opportunity to see how the T (technology) and A (arts) of STEAM work together.

Benefits to my students

Students love technology. This experience lets them integrate music, visual arts and technology to create endless creative combinations.

Budget Narrative

The Nanoleaf Light Panel - Rhythm Edition allows for music and visual arts to be explored through the Apple Home app. Students can explore color and music in new ways. The iPad will be used to control the Nanoleaf. The case will protect the iPad. The CCPS Oversite Software is a requirement for CCPS iPads. The Nanoleaf Remote controls the Nanoleaf.
