Nancy Payton - $870.00
To provide students with a comfortable, updated and inviting area in our Media Center where they can read independently, study stress-free and work collaboratively.
The current VIP lounge in our library serves as a space where our most proficient readers visit to practice and enhance their reading skills. This elite area is one that students take pride in being able to come into, because VIP members have illustrated accomplishments in reading and a genuine love of literature. Updating this space with newer and more modern furniture will aid in motivating additional students to set goals of achieving VIP membership.
Libraries create important learning environments. They help learners develop academic, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. They borrow concepts from various non-academic environments so as to create a place where learners can do research, interact, and collaborate. Using more modernized furniture to enhance the space will build pride in students who utilize it and help to inspire those who aspire to enjoy it. Furniture does not only reconfigure spaces inside the library but also helps in modernizing the culture of the library, providing all users with a comfortable space that invites self-directed learning and interaction.
Cost will replace current furniture and is expected to serve its purpose for a minimum of 5 years.
