To familiarize students with simple concepts of food preparation, increasing their daily independence, communication, social/emotional, and employability skills.
Students will prepare a variety of foods in our classroom kitchen in order to increase understanding and skills in food preparation, daily independence, communication, and social/emotional development. This will also increase their employability potential in future job opportunities.
By working together in our classroom kitchen preparing food, students will gain an increased level of understanding and skills necessary to not only prepare their own meals, but also to enhance their employability, daily independence, life skills, communication, and social/emotional development.
Cooking up a storm in our classroom is the goal of this grant. We are seeking the necessary resources which will facilitate the teaching and learning of standards that are aligned to the general education content to students with significant cognitive disabilities. All students can live independent and fulfilling lives. With this grant, we will focus on gaining skills in in food preparation, daily independence, communication, and social/emotional development. This will also increase employability potential in future job opportunities.
