Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 14

Thank to your donations we were able to fully restock our classroom store based on items that each student have an interest in. At the beginning of the year the store looked pretty sad and the students didn't have much to choose from. But with the donations we were able to fully stock it with tons of awesome items and it turned out to be a big hit with students. Students were more motivated to work during the week because they knew at the end of the week they would be able to go shopping. Thank you all so much for helping me provide this opportunity to my amazing students!!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of the grant is to provide items for our Intensive Behavior Students Transition class store, so that our students will be able to save and utilize their budgeting skills to practice saving saving and purchasing.

What will be done with my students

In the classroom we have a class store where the students are able to shop. The items in the store are purchased based on the interests of the students. The items can range from headphones, chargers, art kits, hair stuff, snacks, and gift cards to favorite stores/restaurants. In order to keep a variety of items it takes many shopping trips to keep the inventory up. At the end of every week students will receive a paycheck, pay "rent', pay "utilities" and then they will figure out of much money they have left of their paycheck and they may decide to save or shop with their money. This provides a way for my students to have reward each week for working so hard!

Benefits to my students

Our students benefit from this because it allows them to learn about budgeting. It allows them to have the same opportunity that each of us have after receiving a paycheck. It teaches them responsibility by having them pay rent, and utilities and then it also assists in teaching them to save money. We all enjoy buying items and they do too! This is a great reward system for these students and they always enjoy shopping!!

Budget Narrative

The money will go to purchasing items for our class store. It will be used to buy art kits, hair stuff, headphones, books, t shirts, and gift cards. Items in the store are purchased based off an interest inventory assessment done at the beginning of the year.
