Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Schoen Charitable Foundation - $319.96
The goal is to help students with letter recognition to assist in their use of the keyboard in technology class.
Students who perform best with tactile style learning or hands on learners, will have an opportunity to use the Little Genius Osmo Kits with classroom iPads. Students will use parts of shapes to create letters, providing students with an opportunity to practice their letter recognition. I plan on using this product for the 1st semester in small groups prior to introducing keyboarding skills in January. Once students are showing that they can quickly identify their letters the Osmo Kits will continue to be used with students that need the remediation, and my students that are identified as Unique learners that travel to technology with other kindergarten classes. It is expected for students to be able to apply technology operations to daily work and projects, and identify the keys on the keyboard to type.
Having the Genius Kits for Osmo will allow me to alternate instruction techniques for students and assist them with their keyboarding skills when working on productivity activities during the second semester of courses. This product will be used with all the Kindergarten classes as well as the students that are identified as Unique learners, and any first graders that demonstrate the need for practice with letter recognition. I would also offer to check out the materials to teachers that feel they have a student that could benefit from using the Osmo Kits.
These kits will be used along with classroom iPads for students that need the tactile instruction for letter recognition.
