Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Suncoast Credit Union Foundation - $624.01
Students will be taken on an adventure through the state of Florida and learn about the relationships that exist between endangered species and their habitat. They will then understand that we as Floridians need to care for our fragile ecosystem.
Students will be able to identify species of Flora and Fauna through research and their experiences with their annual swamp trip with the conservancy.
We will then create a 3D installation in the full length glass cases in front of our media center using clay as the primary medium.
SW Florida Flora and Fauna will be represented. Using the art of Local Artist Kathy Spalding as their inspiration. The installation will include water land and sky. representing all SW Florida species.
We will be using paint a variety of papers, and recycled materials, and of course CLAY!!!
Students will become SW Florida Species Specialist! This unit ties in with Science, Math (for understanding scale)Social Studies, researching techniques, and vocabulary development.
My students will work on their Character Development.
Focusing mainly on Respect, Responsibility, and Perseverance.
The budget for this installation covers all the materials that normally my school budget could not support. I order clay every year. That is not included in the grant application.
Glazes for color, tools and brushes and the clay slicer will make this project possible for the 240 kids I teach a day.
