Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 40

Despite virtual classes interrupting our projects, the We Dine Together club was still able to fulfill some of their plans.  Of which the most exciting was perhaps the club t-shirts.  Club members loved having their own t-shirt; making them feel like they are part of a team and community.  Students were the ones to help design and vote on their t-shirts.  This was a huge success!

We also enjoyed making midterm treats for all students and teachers.  This was particularly rewarding because ALL students received an encourage“mint” during the start of their midterms.  In the past without the grant, students had to buy a candygram.  This was a nice way to be inclusive of everyone.  It put a smile on almost 650 students faces!

Club members were rewarded for their acts of kindness and hard work before winter break with a pizza party!  They thoroughly enjoyed and were looking forward to an end of year party which unfortunately we aren’t able to do with school being closed.

For Valentines Day, club members made valentines with chocolates to give to any friend or teacher.  I heard a few teachers talking about how sweet their students were in sharing these valentines.  Once again, spreading kindness.

We are very grateful for the opportunities our grant provided us with.  The students have learned a lot about kindness and building relationships.  The club has also provided a safe place for students to go on a weekly basis.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The We Dine Together Club's goal is to create a positive and inclusive school culture. Students meet weekly to build friendships and spread kindness. Club members are encouraged to interact with students who may be new or in need of a friend.

What will be done with my students

Students meet on a weekly basis. Each week they invite new students to join. There are different themes every week such as ice breakers/team building, spreading kindness, and art/creative expression.

Benefits to my students

The club encourages students to be leaders in a campaign of kindness. Through kindness they aim to create a positive and inclusive school climate. The club hopes to reach the whole school through morning announcements, bulletin board, random acts of kindness, and kindness campaign activities.

My budget includes supplies for kindness campaign activities and student welcome luncheons. It also includes t-shirts for members to wear to help identify them.
