Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Suncoast Credit Union - $447.87
The goal of this project is to be able to provide low-income students the ability to digitize their engineering design notebook through the the Canvas Student App on an iPad.
Collier County Public Schools has recently converted to the Canvas online learning management system. This is the same online course program used at FSW and FGCU. Students have the ability to use the Canvas Student App on their phone to scan and submit notebook assignments, creating a permanent, digital backup of their engineering design notebooks. This project will provide the engineering classroom with an iPad that can be used by students that do not have a smartphone. These students can sign in to the classroom iPad, scan their notebook or project, and create a digital backup of their work that can be accessed anytime online.
With the addition of an Apple Pencil, this iPad station can be further expanded to supplement the Engineering Design capstone students with 3D modeling projects using the SHAPR 3D modeling app.
Not every student has access to the new features of the Canvas system if they do not have a smartphone capable of running the Canvas Student App. This would give a dedicated station where these students can scan their work and take full advantage of the new program.
The three requested items are the iPad, a rugged case, and an Apple Pencil.
