Goal

Our goal is to grant our students exposure to an interactive educational experience. Visiting the IMAG center would allow our students to have fun learning about science with an organization that is passionate about the subject.

What will be done with my students

Our team would love to be able to take our students on a STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts & Math) field trip. Being that there is not much to offer in town, I would like my students to visit the IMAG in Fort Myers, Florida. The IMAG is a history and science center that offers hands on STEAM activities and exhibits. Our students would be given a tour, allowed to explore the facility, and participate in a 3D printer technology workshop.

Benefits to my students

I work as a modified curriculum teacher, teaching students with special needs from sixth through eighth grade. Here at Immokalee Middle School we are located dead center of a small, low income community. Most of our students come from families that work in local farms and agricultural employment. If it wasn't for school field trips most of our students would never have the opportunity to experience anything like the IMAG center. Immokalee is a farm works town that doesn't have much to offer kids outside of school. We hope this trip will encourage and bring a love for science to our students.

Budget Narrative

The IMAG center would provide a four hour experience with a tour of the facility and a hands on technology workshop. Admission for all students and staff attending would be $215. The 3D Printer Technology workshop would be an additional $216 and the transportation would be $40 with a grand total of $471.
