The Covid 19 pandemic has interrupted schools however because the program was an on-line platform students were able to continue learning after the school facilities were closed.  However, the district and state cancelled all testing therefore students could not take the ServSafe Food Service Managers Exam.  Everglades worked hard to keep students on course and had 12 students complete the course at the time of this report.

Originally 18 students were enrolled, 1 student moved schools, 1 had to switch out of the class and 1 graduated early.  Of the 15 remaining, 6 completed the course by May 15 (3 weeks before the end of the school year) and 9 are on-course to complete the class by the end of the school year.

As a result of the initial investment of Champions for Learning and student interest Everglades City School will be offering this as a year long course starting in August 2020.

Customarily this class is offered over 2 semesters and it is remarkable that 12 students completed the course in 1 semester against the backdrop of school being closed.
