As a virtual teacher at Naples Park Elementary, I want to make videos of me and my family doing activities in the real world that pertain to our ELA, math, science, and social studies curriculum and standards. A GoPro camera will give me the ability to make dynamic content. I have a diverse group of students that range from ESE to gifted and I want my content to be engaging, fun, relevant, and equally accessible. This camera will be a permanent addition to my teaching, even with in-person teaching,

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 50

This donation has greatly impacted my classroom in a very positive way.  The GoPro is a tool that allows students to create exciting, engaging, and relevant videos about knowledge and skills that are learned in the classroom.  Students are able to apply skills to real world situations, all the while learning how to use new technology.  My students loved working in groups to make science videos to show the class.  Eventually, it is my goal to teach students not only how to make videos, but how to edit them, too.  Unfortunately, with such a time crunch going to the FSA, we were not allowed to use much time in the classroom for anything other than critical content and district curriculum.  Once students are back on track and recovered from the initial quarantine, we are going to be making an entire YouTube channel for educational videos that the students will make and share with the world. We are grateful for this amazing donation.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

As a virtual teacher at Naples Park Elementary, I want to make videos of me and my family doing activities in the real world that pertain to our ELA, math, science, and social studies curriculum and standards. A GoPro camera will give me the ability to make dynamic content. I have a diverse group of students that range from ESE to gifted and I want my content to be engaging, fun, relevant, and equally accessible. This camera will be a permanent addition to my teaching, even with in-person teaching,

What will be done with my students

Depending on what standards I am teaching, I will create videos of myself and my family demonstrating critical content in a visual and real-world way. By using a GoPro camera, I can wear the camera or increase my mobility while recording demonstrations, activities, and virtual field trips. I will upload these videos and make a digital library of standards-based "YouTube"-like short videos that will be included in my virtual teaching. I have a lot of experience making YouTube videos and Twitch streams. I want to incorporate engaging and exciting videos that make any concept clear and visual for all learners. By adding captions to my videos, I can also help ELL and ESE learners build their vocabulary. I want my virtual teaching to be more than just generic videos, reading text, and completing worksheets. I want my students to look forward to the next video and what they will learn from it. I also want to share these videos with the other fourth grade teachers, as well as any ELL and ESE teachers that feel they would benefit from them.

Benefits to my students

Equal-access to content is essential in the classroom. Diverse ranges, styles, and interests of each learner will be met by these videos made from the GoPro camera. I truly believe that students will be excited to learn and look forward to these videos. They will realize that learning is fun and everyone can be successful.

Budget Narrative

The GoPro Hero 8 Black Camera comes with an all-inclusive package of every tool and accessory that I would need to create my videos. It is available on Amazon for $419.99.
