Our classroom goal is to have each of my student actively engaged when I am teaching. One way to achieve this is with the program Nearpod. Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 200

Due to the current situation (Covid19) students as well as myself need to adjust our learning platforms. Along with many safety protocols (limiting the community shared art materials), we have been forced to learn how to use technology LMS in the classroom-which includes the art room. Student engagement is crucial to any lesson. If students aren’t engaged in what they are doing (and for that matter, if I'm not either!) then I have already lost many opportunities. One of the top things we love the most about using Nearpod in the art classroom is the amount of student engagement it provides and how easily this is achieved. Students use their devices to learn is already engaging, but Nearpod allows us an interactive activity to keep engagement going throughout the lessons. The students are inspired and enjoy the control that they have by learning and using Nearpod in the art room. The Nearpod educators’ site is easy to use to create, intergrade into Canvas LMS, and monitor lesson engagement. Not to mention we-are all learning this together promoting a learning community.

Currently the following grade levels are using the Nearpod: 2nd grader are learn the Element of Art Line and the 4th Graders are using Nearpod to learn/create a cross curricular comic. Both are using engaging interactive processes to learn about the subject: open ended questions, collaborative sharing boards, draw, type, and highlight on slides, virtual field trips and quizzes and integrating other online applications. I am delighted to say that I am so happy to have 100% engagement and the students enjoying success.

As we learn the Nearpod platform-we will be using this product in all grade level art classes.

Thank You.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Our classroom goal is to have each of my student actively engaged when I am teaching. One way to achieve this is with the program Nearpod. This program can be used in the classroom or through an e-learning classroom. This program allows me to differentiate instruction for each student and give me immediate feedback on his or her understanding.

What will be done with my students

I am the Art Educator and I plan on utilizing lessons developed by Art specialists created for Nearpod across all grade levels in the area of Art Education. These lessons integrate the use of polls, quizzes, collaboration, and open ended discussion questions. As students submit their responses, I will have a quick understanding of the students’ understanding. These lessons can be followed up with a art project to demonstrate their learning. In addition the students can interact with the lessons I have created on a topic at their own pace, the text will be read to the students by utilizing immersive reader which will allow for e-learning utilization or classroom utilization of working independently,
In addition, Nearpod can be utilized to check for understanding on other topics covered in class, such as material safety, procedures and Art History.

This year I would like to purchase the premium membership to be able to utilize all of the lessons contained in NearPod. This would allow access to technology lessons, social studies, science, social emotional lessons and more.

Benefits to my students

With the addition of e-learning with our students it is more important that every to find ways to engage the students on their level. Also the students need to expand their understanding and usage of appropriate learning platforms.

Budget Narrative

The proposed grant would buy a one year license for my classroom to the on-line program Nearpod.
