Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 122

The new normal changed a lot about our classroom environment and the decorative light covers with a fun science theme in our classroom have keep the excitement going all year long. Student were excited to see not only a more comfortable lighting environment to work in but cool science content. Students were not only excited and asked question about the science content in the images but often were used as a teaching tool. For example, the waterfall image was great to use as a review of weathering, erosion, and deposition. Even virtual students got in on the fun when classroom groups would often aim their laptop cameras at the ceiling so that students at home got to see our shared classroom experience.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To update our classroom decor to be easily cleaned and engaging.  

 

What will be done with my students

Our current classroom environment is changing drastically to the a "new" normal. Many of our previous items in class would absorb since they were often porous and made with cloth. Instead using these decorative light covers we can see science topics right above us, improve the lighting in our interior room without windows, and follow all health and safety guidelines for easy cleaning.  

 

Benefits to my students

Students will have diffused light which is an improvement from just florescent and see "windows" to the outside world on our ceiling. This should improve overall mood and engagement with a interesting and safer classroom environment for all.

Each light cover costs $34.99 and there is no shipping charge.
