Florida License for Learning License Plate Fund - $1,520.85
Sometimes it is hard for students to wrap their head around how plants "breathe" or complete photosynthesis. This resource will help students monitor and visualize how photosynthesis really works.
In class, I cover the topic of photosynthesis. Students will be able to monitor the cycle of photosynthesis and respiration of plants using NeuLog O2, CO2, and light sensors. Students will be amazed as they watch plants soak up the sun! They will complete an in depth multi-week project and practice their scientific methods and data taking skills too. This will allow them to work on multiple standards at once and make the learning experience cumulative.
This is cutting edge and definitely a hands on science resource that is perfect for any middle school student, but especially students that need help visualizing a complex topic like photosynthesis. This resource will increase engagement and learning as it totally involves the students and lets them take control of the learning and exploring. They will also get to practice an in depth science experiment that will prepare them for higher level science and help them practice critical thinking skills as well.
I will need a class set of 3 for 3 sections of science so that every class can participate in this experiment. The budget is for the photosynthesis chambers and the sensors that will provide data.
