Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 90

Students received an in-depth understanding of the Muscular system and further their knowledge of the Skeletal system along the way. Furthermore, they were introduced and prepare to learn the Nervous and Digestive systems.

Students were able to benefit from the different types of teaching styles provided by the models obtained with this grant. Every student uses different learning styles to effectively acquire knowledge and gain an understanding of the subject matter being taught.  Students can be Visual or Spatial learners, Aural or Auditory learners, Verbal or Linguistic learners, Physical or Kinesthetic learners, and Social or Interpersonal learners in our classrooms.  Every student uses a combination of some or all of these learning styles. The purchase of the models provided our students with the opportunity to use the learning style that best fits their learning needs.

Students were able to see, touch, and hear, while working individually and together to explore and learn many of the muscular system's details, characteristics, and functions. The ability to implement hands-on activities to help the students learn the muscular system, in combination with the interactive computer application served as an excellent classroom and enhanced learning tool. The knowledge and understanding the students received with the help of these models are excellent preparation as they look to begin to explore college degrees and careers in the medical field.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Our goal is to provide our students with the best opportunity to learn about the body and all of its intricate parts. We want to engage students senses by allowing them to see and touch about what they are learning.

What will be done with my students

All anatomy models come with 3B Smart Anatomy App, which Includes:
* 23 digital anatomy lectures
* 117 different virtual anatomy models
* 39 anatomy quizzes to test your knowledge
These tools will allow us to permanently integrated all activities into lessons throughout the year. Anatomy and physiology requires an in-depth understanding of the body, its parts, and functions; all of these tools will provide students with a vivid and realistic look at what they are learning making it easier to understand and learn. All tools will be used as part of the study of each of the body systems.

Benefits to my students

Students will gain a better understanding of the human body, which will give them a basic introduction to the knowledge used by medical professionals when working with patients. Over 100 students per school year will benefit from the use of these tools. Students are expected to receive an overall understanding of the human body, its systems and functions, and how all systems interact together to maintain life. Most importantly, students will gain the introductory knowledge necessary to enter the medical field and prepare for their careers as medical professionals.

Budget Narrative

Anatomy models are expensive due to the details necessary to accurately portrait the human body. Nonetheless, these models provide students with a realistic view of the complexity of the human body.
