Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 123

Students and families had teh opportunity to play with some fun science games throughout the 2020-2021 school year. Virtual and in person students checked out games to play with their families and friends for a week and then created video reviews of the game. From escape the room mysteries to rollercoaster building challenges students rxplored many skills and had fun while doing it. Each student wrote a review for the game and filmed a videoexplaining how the game works, what can be learned from the game, and what stratgies should be used if the view decides to play the game featured.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Students will improve engagement and scientific practice while playing games. Last year we added some classroom games which were a big hit. This year expanding our game library will increase the results.

What will be done with my students

Students will be able to use/borrow scientifically accurate board games to use in class and/or at home. These games will reinforce student understanding of science concepts and problem solving skills in an engaging way. All games will be stored and sanitized in my science lab in between uses to avoid any spread of viruses or germs.

Benefits to my students

Students and families will be able to enjoy playing these games and practicing science content. Students who choose to borrow games will be able to play at home with their families as well bringing the learning to life in the community. Students will practice accurate science information in preparation for the State Science Assessment (SSA).

Budget Narrative

The list of 12 games includes multiple science topics. The games are a multiple skill levels and game types to keep interest with many types of learners. With 12 games it will be possible to rotate and sanitize games between my six classes easily for continued use. .
