Goal

Obtaining two sets of SSYRA books for the two ELA classes that I teach that will allow more students to be able to read them so that ALL students will be able to participate in a celebration of reading revolving around these books across the state of Florida.

What will be done with my students

My students will be able to choose the SSYRA (Sunshine State Young Readers Award) books in the order they wish to read them. We’ll keep track of each book read in the 4th grade hallway. Students will be rewarded for each book that they read and get a special "brag" tags to hang up in the room or keep on their backpacks after earning a passing reading comprehension score on the book.

Benefits to my students

This project will give my students access to the fantastic titles on the newly released 2020-2021 Sunshine State Young Readers Award book list!
These books will also help to develop student interest in reading for pleasure by exposing them to a wide range of appropriate literature. Sunshine State books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation.

Budget Narrative

2 Sets of the SSYRA Books for the 2020-2021 school year. One set will be placed in two different 4th grade classrooms. All books will be purchased through Barnes and Noble with the educators discount.
