Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 150

The subscription to both Flocabulary and Brain Pop has been wonderful. These videos that we watch help the students understand the concepts that we are teaching better. We might introduce a topic with a video or reinforce the topic with these videos. The students in our classrooms love the engagement factor of these videos. The Flocabulary site brings the concepts to life in a song and dance aspect. The students love the beats that the songs are played to, so they will remember what is said in the video more. The Brain Pop subscription has review games after we watch the video, which has real world examples, and the students love doing the games or the quizzes so they can see if they were paying attention. The students get so excited when they hear the Pop for Brain Pop or the start of a song from Flocabulary. We really have seen an improvement in the students in remembering the vocabulary definition or the concept since we have gotten this subscription.  Getting Brain Pop back after not having it for a couple years is excited. We can now use both to engage our students.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To incorporate fun, instructional videos through out the curriculum.

What will be done with my students

Videos will be shown across curriculum to supplement instruction, while meeting the needs of multiple learners.

Benefits to my students

The students will be more engaged through out the lesson and will use the mnemonic strategy to remember key concepts being taught across the curriculum. When we watch the videos the students remember the beat that is put to the words. For those learners that learn best with music, this is so beneficial.

Budget Narrative

Both subscriptions will be used between multiple classes.
Flocabulary will be used in language arts, science, and social studies lessons.
Brain Pop will be used for science and social studies lessons.
