Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 19

My students LOVE, LOVE, LOVE participating in Breakout Boxes!!!  Thank you to The Paul Pacter Fund, Suncoast Credit Union, and Champions for Learning for allowing my students to participate in such a fun and engaging learning activity!  My students worked collaborativeyl in heterogenous groups to review critical content. The students worked together to solve challenges, unlocked boxes to get to the next clue, and ultimately completed the task of "Breaking Out".  There was 100% engagement with each Breakout we did this year!  Now students even ask to have Breakout Boxes as rewards!  This will definitly be a project that I will use every year! Thank you for supporting my classroom.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of this project is to keep students engaged in learning by solving challenges and using Breakout Boxes to review content learned in a fun, exciting, and engaging way.

What will be done with my students

As a way to review content at the end of a unit, students will be given a Break Out box challenge. In cooperative groups, students will use the skills they have learned on a given topic to solve challenges , unlock boxes to get to the next clue, and to ultimately completing the task.

Benefits to my students

Students will gain critical thinking skills and work collaboratively with other students to solve challenges on a given subject area and standard. This can be used across all curricular areas. The Breakout library also contains Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activities to achieve individual and collective goals. This will contribute to a safe and caring classroom community.
