My classroom goal is to have 100% of my students actively engaged while I am teaching. One way to achieve this goal is by utilizing the on-line platform program entitled, “Pixton;” which is a comic and story board builder for education. This program can be used in the brick and mortar classroom and/or an e-learning environment. This program allows me to differentiate instruction for each student and provide individual feedback on their individual projects.

Pixton:

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to Village Oaks Elementary School, for $99.00. We extend our gratitude for your continued support of the Arts & Instructional Resource funding through your grant making activity.

This grant was used to assist in assessing the students learning and adjust our teaching strategies to accommodate our 21st Century learners. This is one of the many examples of how this program benefits’ both the educator and the students: During the 1st quarter Integrated Arts / Instructional Resource(IR) learning goal(s) for kindergarten through 5th grade was to learn how to create digital stories. Fortunately due to your generosity our students  were able to use Pixton in Technology class to get students motivated to learn and encourage them to use their creative side to make their own comic. The comics were based on how to protect themselves when on-line situations occur. During this lesson there was

100% of student engagement. Not to mention that the comics were creative and right on point for handling unwanted on-line occurrences.

Thanks Again

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My classroom goal is to have 100% of my students actively engaged while I am teaching. One way to achieve this goal is by utilizing the on-line platform program entitled, “Pixton;” which is a comic and story board builder for education. This program can be used in the brick and mortar classroom and/or an e-learning environment. This program allows me to differentiate instruction for each student and provide individual feedback on their individual projects.

What will be done with my students

II am an Art Educator, and I plan on utilizing Pixton across 2-5 grade levels in my classes. Pixton allows teachers and students to construct their own comic strips. There are a variety of comic strip layouts, numerous character and background choices, and a ton of creative options. I personally purchased this software last year and the students loved creating stories and elaborating on stories that we read in class (the students were asked to extend their thinking and change the outcome of the story that we read). In addition, the students can interact with one another to promote the power of collaborative thinking. This allows students to interact and develop comic stories and have first-hand experience with creating virtual situations where they can also practice appropriate social, emotional behaviors.

Benefits to my students

With the addition of access to technology it is more important than ever to find ways to engage the students on their level. Also, the students need to expand their understanding and usage of appropriate educational learning platforms.

Budget Narrative

Like I stated previously--I purchased this program last year. The students need to expand their understanding and usage of appropriate educational learning platforms.Thank you for your consideration.
