Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 54

I am so very thankful to have been given this amazing gift for my students. I was able to purchase the books needed for classroom sets, and extra graphic novels that have been extremely popular with the students. They don't even realize that they are reading and learning because they are having so much fun. We have had Boggle Tournaments and in their free time the students have actually chosen to play SCRABBLE. I am so happy!!

This gift has not only helped my classroom, but also has helped the English Department in my school. My coworker has also used the classroom sets and we have done lesson plans together.

Thank you to Kelly Reller, The Suncoast Credit Union, Champions For Learning, and everyone else who took the time to donate, take photos, and visit my classroom. You have made a huge imact in my students' interest in reading and history.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

I would like to be able to purchase books, newspapers and games for my classroom that interest my students in reading and social studies. My students are among the lowest level readers in the county at Phoenix Naples and I want to get them interested in reading for fun!

What will be done with my students

I would like to be able to read aloud to my students and have them be able to read along with me.
I want to play games like Boggle and also be able to have newspapers the students can touch and read along with digital access since that is included in the price..

Benefits to my students

My middle school students will be able to experience History and reading combined for a more literacy rich environment in my classroom.
A literacy rich classroom needs to start with the environment. The classroom and teacher should promote speaking, listening, reading and writing.
There should be a library with different types of books, magazines, newspapers, graphic novels, different genres and different styles.

There should be games like scrabble and boggle and trivia to play. By obtaining this grant, I will be able to provide a more enriched environment for my students.

Budget Narrative

Thank you for your consideration in helping my classroom become more literacy rich.
