The goal of this is to be able to have students earn a "paycheck" through classroom money in order for them to shop in a class store and practice their budgeting skills.
Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Michael J. Searcy Family - $1,000.00
The goal of this is to be able to have students earn a "paycheck" through classroom money in order for them to shop in a class store and practice their budgeting skills.
Each week students complete and participate in vocational learning tasks both on and off campus. Students fill out a daily timesheet and then each Friday they earn a "paycheck". Students then have to pay rent and utilities and the money they have left over they may use in the class store. We are working with 18-22 year old young adults so we try to keep the store stocked with things that interest them.
Students will be able to go shopping just like we do when we get our paychecks. A lot of our students don't go out in public due to various behavior issues when they are home so this gives them a great opportunity to do what we all have the privilege too.
The money will be used to buy gift cards to various restaurants and stores in $10.00 increments. It will also be used to purchase items that the students are interested in such as t-shirts, headphones, keychains, fun socks, balls, art supplies etc. Last but not least the money will allow us to purchase snack items and drinks the students will be able to chose from.
# | Item | Cost |
