Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 40

This story impacted studetns by being Relatable: it was a great discussion throughout the class about life lessons, even current events. Recalling the characters as an example, you can relate complex ideas such as current events in ways they can understand and process. That’s because the story postures real-life problems in a fictional setting. it was also engaging: The story grasps young readers’ attention, and they won’t want to stop reading. That’s because the characters are so relatable. Kids will sympathize with each of the characters in the story. Studetns were able to expand this book into real life by talking about lessons they learn in their own lives.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

I would love to have classroom book sets that my entire class can each have their own book in front of them to look at and read aloud with.

What will be done with my students

We will use the books to do whole class reads and experience hands on projects that connect the book to different learning objects in the quarter.

Through this book students will be able to describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or feelings) and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events.

One of the aspects students love about reading this book is we watch the movie after we finish reading and students get to compare the story to the movie. Students analyze each character and see how they are similar and different.

Benefits to my students

As well as this vital element of creating a positive, pleasurable experience, there are many benefits of reading a whole class text:
Encountering new words and enriching vocabulary – you experience words that would almost never come up in conversation.
Helps students appreciate the beauty and rhythm of language.

The right book can transform students to be their best.
