Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
The Paul Pacter Fund - $1,029.98
Students will bring historical sites and events to life through the immersive experience of virtual reality (VR) when learning about the past.
Within social studies classrooms, students will build a bridge between the past and present by utilizing VR to explore civilizations and events. Students in grades 6, 7, & 8 will explore historical sites and events with the Oculus Quest 2 and feel as though they are active participants of history!
Some examples of this includes:
World History- 6th graders exploring ancient civilizations and ruins through the National Geographic Explore and BRINK Traveler apps
Civics- 7th graders learning about the Executive Branch with the The People's House app
American History- 8th graders exploring the Civil War through a virtual reality experience
The Oculus Quest 2 provides students with immersive experiences as they take "field trips" to uncover the past and the world around them. VR visually transports students to another place or time. It provides students with a multi-sensory and kinesthetic approach to learning.
Providing students with a strong foundation in social studies is essential for cultivating responsible and productive members of our world community.
The purchase of two Oculus Quest 2 to facilitate small group instruction and additional money to purchase content-based apps to use on each device.
