Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 18

My students were so excited to utilize this fun, interactive vocabulary program all year.  Each week, during our reading block, we listened to an energetic song about a specific learning standard (such as main idea, text features, or point of view).  Students were encouraged to get up to move and dance. This helped to engage my students and get excited for the week.  I was able to send my students a link to the program for their own computer to practice this skill with flash cards, complete a reading passage with questions, and try the lyrics lab where they could make their own song about the reading standard.  We finished the week with a collaborative game together.  This program helped my students connect to our weekly lesson and build mastery skills as we prepared for the FSA (Florida State Assessment).  This program also increased my students’ vocabulary skills during quarterly iReady diagnostic assessments. Thank you again for helping to support our classroom!  You helped make a difference in the lives of 18 wonderful students and a grateful third grade teacher!

Flocabulary Program

Original Grant Overview

Goal

We will utilize engaging songs and videos to help students learn and increase vocabulary achievement while reading.

What will be done with my students

This program subscription will be utilized daily with students to introduce new vocabulary, extend learning through class discussions, and assess and make connections to other areas of our curriculum. Students can view videos as a class or individually, play review games, and make interactive vocabulary cards to build mastery skills.

Benefits to my students

This multi-sensory instructional program will help students with reading, listening, and speaking skills. The auditory and visual representations of words and terms will reinforce vocabulary and help with pronunciation and decoding skills. This program is proven to help close achievement gaps and makes content accessible and fun for all learning styles.
