Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 30

The Copernicus ELS1 Early Learning Station certainly puts learning "in the middle of everything" in this Kindergarten classroom at Seacrest Country Day School!

This teaching easel simply is wonderful. Over the past several weeks, the easel has been used to model handwriting, teach math lessons, hold "big books" for read-aloud stories, and demonstrate how to create picture organizers for journal writing--and those are only a few of the uses. Because this easel is mobile, it can be moved to any learning space within the classroom. The storage baskets are an additional bonus and hold dry erase pens and erasers and other needed supplies. The Kindergarten children enjoy using magnetic letters and math components to explore and practice skills.

The Copernicus ELS1 Early Learning Station is a terrific addition to this Seacrest Country Day School Kindergarten and I am most sincerely grateful to the Belanger Family and Champions for Learning for the funding of this grant.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The Seacrest Country Day School Kindergarten Team seeks to secure a Copernicus ELS1 Early Learning Station for each classroom to be used in a myriad of ways from modeling writing to holding big book read-aloud stories and practicing math computations.

What will be done with my students

The great Renaissance astronomer and mathematician, Nicolaus Copernicus stated this: “At rest in the middle of everything is the sun.” All these hundreds of years later, we know this to be true. The aptly named Copernicus ELS1 Early Learning Station is an organizational easel that will be the "sun in the middle of everything" to assist students with letter and number writing practice, shared big-book reading experiences, and math work.

Benefits to my students

The Copernicus ELS1 Early Learning Station is tested, tried, and true as a premier organizational easel. The easel is built to last; therefore, the number of students impacted from this year forward is more than the 30 children impacted this year! In fact, "the sky is the limit" for the uses of the Copernicus ELS1 Early Learning Station.

Budget Narrative

The Copernicus ELS1 Early Learning Stations can be purchased at a discount through www.todaysclassroom.com as a tax-exempt purchase.
