Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 750

As a School Counselor I will be creating a series called, "Hurricane Habits". Within this series I will be introducing each Habit, explaining what this habit means, why it is important, and how students can begin to implement this habit. I would like to begin this implementation with some extrinsic motivation in order to inspire intrinsic motivation. Each week I will present on the news about a new habit. These news segments will be in my Hurricane Habits series, and will include student presentations! As teachers see students implementing the 7 habits in their classroom, in the cafeteria, and afterschool, they can give students a ticket, which will allow them to come see me, Ms. Brewer, for a fun prize. The prizes I would like to purchase will be fun planners, healthy snacks, fidget toys, and honor badge tags for when they have mastered each habit! The 7 habits is an extensive program, but truly teaches students to be leaders of their own destiny. It teaches students the foundations of living each day with a purpose. This program will be a huge benefit to my students. This classroom (school) grant will help incentivize students in the beginning of implementation, with a further goal of developing intrinsic motivation.
